Give your dot the context you already saved
Ask a dot to look up a decision in Nowledge Mem before it starts work, or to save a selected takeaway after you approve it. Your dot's own memory and Mem are separate; a Memory ID lets you verify what was retrieved or saved.
Choose your connection
Mem on Nowledge Cloud: install the official plugin, sign in and choose your personal or Team workspace. If it is already installed and enabled on the same OpenAI account, start with that connection. OpenAI says dots can use supported enabled plugins with their existing permissions.
Mem on your computer: follow the App setup guide with Access Anywhere or Nowledge Link. Keep Mem and its connection running while the dot uses them.
Verify one task first
Search for a specific keyword from a Memory you know exists and ask for its ID. Then, if you want to save a takeaway, explicitly request that write, review any approval and read it back by ID. Check the destination Space before saving.
Conversation snapshots are optional
Saving original messages requires an exposed sync_thread tool and explicit threads:sync permission. The official Memory connection does not imply this extra permission. Mem saves only originals submitted by the client, not unseen chat history. See the full guide for snapshot receipts and replay behavior.
Dots availability is rolling out; check OpenAI's guide for your account. Actions remain subject to Dots permissions and approvals. Installing a plugin does not by itself enable background MCP Events.
